Calling all Artists!

Fragile Ecosystem - Christine Tingay
How can you work with us to become "more than a Gallery"?

Hoop Gallery is seeking expressions of interest from artists and creative practitioners who have developed or are developing a high-quality exhibition-ready body of work. We showcase artists from the Surf Coast and G21 regions and beyond who make thoughtful and provocative statements through their art and demonstrate new, experimental and diverse ideas and approaches to creative practice.
We anticipate our gallery to be a vibrant creative space filled with drawings and paintings, sculpture, fixed and moving images, soundscapes, installations, jewellery, ceramics, textiles and designed artefacts.
Our Gallery is equipped with large white walls, projection equipment, two large displays, a Public Address system, six mobile display units and a number of plinths (refer plan and elevations).

Exhibitions at Hoop Gallery rotate on a monthly basis and, from the short list of artist applicants, we select and curate exhibitions of between one and four solo artists, or a single collective of artists working together.

Typically, we curate exhibitions with a complementary selection of 2-D artists accompanied by a 3-D artist. Across the annual calendar, we look for diversity in our offering of people, mediums and methods to expose the community to the spectrum of talent in the region.

Interested artists should visit and follow our Instagram '@hoopgallery_torquay' to review previous exhibitions in the gallery. For solo exhibitions, artists must demonstrate that they can fill the gallery with a body of high quality works.

Artists will be selected by our committee for exhibitions based on the following selection criteria:
-
Quality and presentation of work
-
Thoughtfulness, experimentation and depth of consideration in the artist’s practice
-
Exhibition-readiness or demonstrated ability to deliver a high-quality exhibition
-
How the artist’s proposal contributes to the diversity of our exhibition schedule
