Talburac Art Prize

About the Prize

The Talburac Art Prize is your invitation to be inspired, unlock your creative excellence and energise our vibrant arts community. Hosted at Hoop Gallery, it’s a dynamic platform to elevate your talent, spark fresh perspectives, and advance artistic careers.

Ron Talbot, a founding member of Hoop Gallery, is a passionate advocate for the power of creativity to enrich community life and nurture lifelong learning.

The ‘Talburac Art Prize’ was made possible through his generous philanthropic donation.

As a dedicated artist with over 25 years in the arts, Ron has continually worked to create opportunities for artists within the creative sector.

‘Talburac’, the endearing name of a property in Wurdiboluc near Winchelsea, was where he and his late wife, Andre, embraced rural life on 30 acres of inspired gardens, orchards, and lake vistas. While not farmers, they approached rural life with curiosity, courage, and ambition – setting bold goals with enthusiasm. No task was too small, and they thrived on creating in their landscape setting.

The quirky name ‘Talburac’ blends elements of the family names Talbot and Burgess, with the “ac” a celebration of nearby towns like Colac, Moriac, and Coragulac. The commitment to ‘Talburac’ was the result of many years of collaboration, made possible by Andre’s powerful creative energy and determination. Ron describes her as an inspiring and passionate person – both personally and professionally.

This prize honours her legacy and the couple’s unwavering belief in art’s power to transform lives.
