In my latest work, I delve into the enchanting transition from winter’s retreat to spring’s gentle awakening, aiming to capture the emotional dichotomy present in this seasonal shift. The piece invites viewers into a world where the introspective shadows of winter harmonize with the invigorating light heralding spring's arrival. The rich greens of an ocean beneath brooding skies evoke reflection, echoing the complexities of time and its relentless march forward.
To achieve this depth, I employ a unique technique that blends impasto oil medium, sand, and traditional oil paint. With a palette knife, I meticulously layer the materials on cotton canvas, creating a textured surface that brings the landscape to life. This tactile method not only enhances the physicality of the work but also symbolizes the layered experiences inherent in nature, connecting the intricate details to the broader tapestry of existence.
