'Powerline' is a piece of a triptych that I created titled 'Windows of Wonder'. The work is about my fascination with the turning the mundane into something romantic. This is a powerpole that I walk past almost everyday. I want to capture it in a state of beauty, to imagine nature reclaiming it. My goal through these works is to encourage my audience to see the world around them with a new set of eyes, noticing just how wondrous the world really is.
By capturing this transitory state, between the mundane and the romantic, I seek to depict and share the shifting and changing beauty of everyday life.
Powerline - Levi Warren
My name is Levi Warren (b.2001) I am an illustrator working across the mediums of video, painting and drawing to capture and produce stories. I was born and raised on Wadawurrung land, Geelong; I am a student of Fine Arts pursuing a career in teaching. I pursue the philosophy of art as communication, a principle carried into my role as a storyteller and a teacher.
My practice marries cinematic and illustrative elements in the pursuit of elevating both, I explore communication, storytelling and an interrogation of modern romanticism. Seeking to imbue the mundane, the pulp and the pop-cultural with the magical to capture the world as far more wonderful and interesting as it often seems.
