My inspiration was to express changes in the landscape and weather in colour. The other idea was to relate the colours to each other and look for the subtle relationships. Consequently there were many decisions in the process and I found that I needed to mix colours on the canvas surface rather than transfer them from a palette. The title ‘Oasis’ came from the single tree that reminded me of a a make-believe oasis.

I am a long-time artist, mainly painting. As an art society member I have won many awards for work in a traditional style. I then took on an arts degree at uni and changed to more abstract and experimental thoughts and practices.
I have always been seduced by colour and strong and simple shapes, whilst also appreciating subtle compositions. I have been interested in portraiture as well.
