Seasonal shifts, Leaving the city, explores the movement of people from the city to the coast, as the seasons change - a pattern I observe walking on the beach over the years.
The work combines hand carved ceramic tiles and painted canvas. Each tile is glazed with underglaze for colour and finished with clear glaze to add depth. The paintings reflect and extend the forms, textures and tones of the tiles, creating connection between the two surfaces. Together the materials tell a story of transition-from the industrial city scape across the bridge to the calm of the coastline.

With a background of study in Art and Design, I have had multi disciplinary practice spanning: gold and silversmithing, mosaic, leadlight, interior design and painting. Aways with a focus on colour, balance and form. My current work explores themes of movement and place through the interplay of glazed ceramic and paint on canvas.
